PokerFest Set to Kick Off at Party Poker

One of the biggest online poker tournament series is about to get underway.  The event in question: Party Poker’s first annual PokerFest, running from late October into early November.

While some other online poker tournament events, such as the WCOOP, focus on ultra-high buy ins and massive guaranteed prize pools, Party Poker’s PokerFest takes a slightly different approach.  While the entire series does offer a generous guaranteed prize pool total at over $3 million, the events are all structured and priced to appeal to a broad spectrum of the online poker crowd.

The crown jewel of the series is a $640 buyin main even that guarantees a $1 million prize pool.  That event runs at 13:30 server time on Sunday, November 6th.  You can find satellites to that tournament running in the Party Poker tournament lobby.  The main event will cap a tournament series of 47 total events spanning three weeks of play.

Much like the WCOOP, PokerFest is offering essentially three versions of each tournament in the series –  a free buy in (Party Poker points), a low buy in and a medium buy in.  Each day of PokerFest is comprised of the three versions of a single tournament type.  One caveat: When the tournament is a rebuy, the free version of the tournament will not include rebuys.

Included in the series will be No Limit Holdem, Limit Holdem, Pot Limit Omaha and 6–max No Limit Holdem with deep stacks.  PokerFest gets underway on Sunday, October 23rd  with the standard Party Poker Sunday tournament serving as the first event of the series.

PokerFest will also feature a series leader board with over 100k in prizes.  See Party Poker for details.
